The purpose of studying the discipline "Sustainable Finance" is the student's acquisition of knowledge, skills and abilities regarding a comprehensive understanding of the key aspects of financial products, their features and approaches to regulation, as well as an understanding of the modern national and international market of sustainable financing.

The role of financial capitals is crucial in the transition process to net-zero economy and to the achieving the Sustainable Development Goals set by United Nations. The sustainable finance concept emerged from the need to build a financial and economical vehicle towards sustainability, therefore global financial system is restructuring and transforming to the new way of doing business. This course reviews the key concepts and frameworks of sustainable finance and its role in the green economy transition.

The “Sustainable Finance” course refers also to the different types of sustainable investment mechanisms at different layers at national and regional economies. It contains discussions of practical cases about sustainable issues/investment decisions by financial and non-financial firms. We discuss new sustainability-oriented financial instruments and impediments for incorporating ESG factors in traditional investment analysis.
